Professional Biography
Before founding Color World Painting Charlotte, Derek built a successful 26-year career in retail leadership, sales management, training, and operations. As a multi-unit sales manager, he directed territories ranging from 5 to 22 locations that generated up to $8 million in annual revenue. Throughout his corporate career, he consistently ranked among top-performing leaders in key operational metrics, including labor management, sales performance, and team development. He earned recognition from senior executives for his ability to train, develop, and inspire high-performing teams while maintaining strong operational standards.
Derek and his wife, Kristy, relocated from New England to the Charlotte area more than 15 years ago and quickly embraced the local community. During that time, he observed a recurring challenge faced by many homeowners: finding contractors who communicated clearly, respected their property, and consistently delivered quality workmanship.
As Derek explains:
"Every homeowner dreams of a beautiful space they're proud to call home. Yet finding a reliable, quality-focused painting company who truly cares can feel like an impossible task. After experiencing this frustration firsthand, I recognized an opportunity to make a difference in our community."
Motivated by that vision, Derek established Color World Painting Charlotte with a commitment to professionalism, reliability, and proactive customer care. Today, he leads a dedicated team of painting professionals serving homeowners and businesses across Charlotte, Concord, and surrounding communities.
Under Derek's leadership, the company has earned franchise sales awards for business performance and growth while building a reputation for dependable service, clear communication, and quality craftsmanship. His experience in leadership, operations, and customer service continues to shape the company's approach to every project.
In addition to residential painting, Derek oversees commercial painting projects that require specialized planning, equipment, and safety procedures. As a lift-certified professional, he understands the operational requirements involved in elevated painting work and large-scale commercial projects, helping ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
